How to wash your hair correctly

Effective and gentle cleansing of the scalp and hair is the first step to promoting healthy, healthy scalp and making hair look more beautiful and manageable. This step not only removes accumulated dirt and beautifies the hair, but also prepares it to better absorb subsequent treatments, such as hair loss treatments.

Since paying attention to this moment promotes physical and emotional well-being , today we offer you all the tips to wash your hair better. Are you ready? Let's get started...

Steps to wash your hair properly

1. Prepare your hair

Take a moment to appreciate your hair . If it's normal, continue washing it. However, if you notice any of these signs—irritation, itching, dandruff, pain—you should know that you probably have a sensitive scalp or one that's been affected by some cosmetic you're using. Keep an eye on it, and if symptoms persist, be sure to see a specialist.

In addition, common factors such as pollution, dryness, sweat, wind, flat irons, hairdryers, and hard water can also cause dull, brittle, and lackluster hair, and they will only make it worse if you don't take action now with a good hair routine and products that adapt to your needs and hair type.

Whether you've used a styling product or not, start your hair ritual by brushing your hair . This dry brushing, in addition to removing residue, helps eliminate tangles and improves scalp microcirculation, the foundation of healthy hair. Brushing also helps you better understand your hair's actual condition and decide what care it needs.

2. Apply the shampoo

Make sure you're using a shampoo adapted to your needs and hair type: fine, oily, curly, dry... You can find out which shampoo best suits your needs by taking our Hair Quiz.

Before applying the shampoo, wet your hair thoroughly with warm water. Remember that water and shampoo always go hand in hand when washing to help spread the formula better.

Place a small amount of shampoo in the palm of your wet hands, work it into a lather by rubbing both hands together to create a lather, and apply it to the roots of your hair . Focus on areas like the nape of your neck and sides, as these are the areas that tend to get the dirtiest. You don't need to apply shampoo to the lengths of your hair; it will cleanse itself as the product glides on. Just work it in and work it in all over your hair.

Massage with very gentle movements , aimed at lifting the hair roots. This will stimulate circulation, benefiting hair growth and strengthening. Be gentle with your massages; don't release any tension during these moments; just enjoy and relax. Leave it on for a few minutes and then rinse thoroughly, avoiding any shampoo residue, which can irritate the scalp and make hair look dull.

"Washing your hair doesn't cause more hair loss; the hair that falls out during washing is in the expulsion phase called telogen. Likewise, washing your hair during hair loss is beneficial because it helps regulate hair loss."

If you don't wash your hair daily, a second shampoo may be necessary. The first wash will help remove traces of dirt and buildup, while the second wash will help finish the cleansing process, massage your scalp, and allow the shampoo's active ingredients to work deeply.

3. Use conditioner and/or mask

Once you've rinsed the shampoo, apply your conditioner or mask to the lengths and ends of your hair to hydrate, soften, add shine, and achieve greater frizz control.

Conditioner

It's a lighter cosmetic formula than a mask and is always recommended after washing your hair. Conditioner will help further improve the condition of your hair , providing softness and flexibility to the hair fiber, reducing dreaded frizz, and making it easier to style.

Face mask

It is a treatment with more active ingredients than the conditioner ; its more concentrated formula works more intensely to achieve the desired results in hair, such as hydration, softness, and manageability.

Alternating between the two ensures that your hair displays the qualities we love to see in hair: softness, volume, and shine. We recommend leaving the product on for the recommended amount of time and combing it with a special comb for wet hair. Don't forget to always rinse thoroughly and gently remove the product to avoid leaving residue that could weigh hair down or dull it.

4. Remove excess moisture

When hair is wet, it's more fragile and prone to breakage , which is why how you dry it matters. Our recommendation: dry it gently and remove excess water without rubbing, to avoid damaging the scalp or the hair itself.

To make this process easier and faster, we recommend our A01 Turban Towel, a 100% certified organic cotton towel that enhances your hair while drying it.

Our best advice?

Invest in hair care products that benefit you and offer a pleasant application experience.

That's what our Mediterranean hair ritual is all about, and it never lacks: a shampoo that's gentle on the scalp and hair, conditioner to soften and enhance the hair's shine, a turban towel that dries gently and in record time, and a brush that detangles hair when it's wet and at its most vulnerable.
